Tash Tech Technical University is looking for a motivated and organized Head of Library and Information Services to lead the development and daily operations of the University’s library and information resources.
The position is responsible for providing high-quality library services to students, faculty, researchers, and staff, while developing a modern academic library with strong digital and research support.
Key Responsibilities
--Manage the daily operations of the University Library and Information Services;
--Develop and implement the library’s development strategy and annual work plan;
--Manage and develop the University’s physical and electronic library collections;
--Organize access to academic databases, e-books, journals, and other digital resources;
--Develop and maintain an effective digital library catalogue and information systems;
--Ensure convenient and high-quality library services for students, faculty, and researchers;
--Support students and academic staff in finding, evaluating, and using academic information;
--Support research activities by providing access to scientific publications, databases, and information resources;
--Develop partnerships with publishers, database providers, universities, and other libraries;
--Manage library staff, allocate responsibilities, and monitor performance;
--Plan and manage the library budget and procurement of books, databases, equipment, and other resources;
--Develop library policies, procedures, and service standards;
--Ensure proper organization, preservation, and accessibility of library resources;
--Introduce modern technologies and digital solutions to improve library services;
--Prepare reports and recommendations for University management.
Requirements
--Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Library Science, Information Science, Education, Management, or a related field;
--At least 3 years of professional experience, preferably in a university, academic, research, or public library;
--Experience managing library collections and information resources;
--Good understanding of modern library services and electronic information resources;
--Experience working with digital catalogues, library management systems, or electronic databases;
--Good computer and information management skills;
--Experience managing staff and coordinating daily operations;
--Good organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills;
--Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, researchers, and administrative staff;
--Fluency in Uzbek and Russian;
--English — at least B2 level.
Will Be an Advantage
--Experience working in a university or technical university;
--Experience with international academic databases and digital libraries;
--Knowledge of resources such as Scopus, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, Springer Nature, IEEE Xplore, or similar platforms;
--Experience working with international publishers and academic information providers;
--Experience developing digital library services;
--Knowledge of current trends in academic libraries and research support;
--Experience organizing information literacy or research skills training for students and faculty;
--Experience working with international universities or libraries.
