The CDIO Asia Regional Meeting 2026 took place from 23 to 26 September in Oskemen, Kazakhstan, hosted by D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University.
Mohammad Reza Bahrami, Dean of the Faculty of Energy Engineering at TashTech Technical University, participated in the event and exchanged insights with colleagues on advancing engineering education in the region, modern educational approaches, collaboration between industry and higher education, and the role of artificial intelligence in education.
Particular attention was given to the CDIO (Conceive, Design, Implement, Operate) approach. This approach integrates students’ theoretical knowledge with practical skills, preparing them to identify problems, design and implement solutions, and apply them in real-world settings.
Discussions also addressed engaging students in practical projects from the earliest stages of their studies, developing engineering thinking, and using artificial intelligence as a tool to support thinking and creativity.
The best practices gained during the event will be applied at TashTech Technical University to further enhance engineering education, develop a practice-oriented learning environment, and prepare engineers equipped with modern competencies.
TashTech Technical University continues to expand opportunities in engineering education by strengthening international academic collaboration and integrating best practices into the learning process.
